Description

Total rehabilitation of 62 SRO units in the heart of Alameda. The building is 3 stories of wood framing over a concrete podium. The scope consisted of stripping all interior and exterior finished down to the studs, and replacing with all new finishes. New electrical systems with individual metering, fire sprinklers, and new hydronic heating were put in throughout the building. The wood framed structure received seismic upgrades, and the garage structure received thickened footings and shot-crete walls to stiffen the podium structure. Two new structures were built in the former parking lot, which consisted of an on-site manager's office, and a large community space with a kitchen.
