Description
Construction of a retail space and 18 condominiums for first time homebuyers. The building was 3 stories wood frame over a concrete podium. Soils remediation conditions and zero lot line design required the developer’s team to investigate a cost effective way to stabilize the soil and construct footings without disturbing the neighboring properties. The team decided that a “hopscotch” excavation process would allow for the foundation work to proceed while not undermining the building next door. In doing this, we were able to stabilize the soil below the footing without removing too much soil.
